Hi Sylvia,
I hope Dhiren is starting to improve with his new antibiotics. I know how my Dad is with his chest infections, and it's hard to cope with his aggression. Fortunately, the staff have seen it all before, and they know that it's the infection making him so difficult. Sometimes I feel so mortified at the way he shouts at them, but when he's better he is usually quite polite, so I suppose they understand.
I think you're right about the immobility making it hard to clear his chest. Dad is having far more trouble with his chest since he stopped walking again. We had a few glorious months last summer when he started to walk again, and there were no problems with his chest. Since he had the series of strokes in the autumn, he never seems to be quite clear. My GP has put Dad on the list for a monthly visit since December, to keep an eye on what's happening. He used to do that with MIL too, and said it was easier to know what was happening if he always did the visit himself. I'm very lucky with having such a good GP. I know you've met Dhiren's doctor and hope you are still happy with him. It makes such a difference if you have confidence in the people who are looking after our loved ones. The staff at Dhiren's home are obviously on the ball.
Look after yourself. I look forward to hearing how you both are very soon,
Love, Sue xxx
