Intentional spitting at carers

My Mum, 94 and with later stage Alzheimers spits!
Not because of too much saliva but its when she is angry with what may be going on and she does it in protest.
We have tried to tell her to stop it but it makes her worse.
She finds it almost amusing to see our carer and myself (carer as well) ducking out the way.
Any suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks
Sue

Welcome to the forum @s5oxy

I’m afraid I can’t think of any suggestions to help with this apart from the ducking you’re already doing. I’d be tempted to wear a face shield like those some people wore during covid.

Do you think pre warning your mum before you do anything might help her to be less angry.

There are some very good videos on YouTube by a lady called Teepa Snow about how to approach someone with dementia when it comes to personal care, feeding etc which you might find helpful.
