Poor Alan, Helen. No wonder he is so ill.
I do hope some relief can be found for him as soon as possible and he isn`t left to suffer this breathlessness and pain for much longer.
And I hope you feel so much better now you don`t have to sit and wait.
Love xx

Well it's good that Alan's medical problems are being looked into so quickly and so thoroughly, Helen.

I wish you well for thisafternoon...will be thinking about you both.

Thank you.

Dear Lynne, I will not turn anything down especially now that I know it can be worked so that Alan benefits by receiving the care that he needs rather than what is available;) By this happening I know that he is receiving the best possible and there is more possibility of him retaining the abilities that he has. I won't feel guilty with these set of circumstances but I would have before because I knew it would be disastrous for him.

Of course, the medical issues might mean a decline - fingers crossed that they can get this infection cleared up because all the antibiotics he's been given so far have not worked and it is progressively getting worse.

I'm off to the GP's now so fingers crossed. xx

Hello Helen,Really good news so far as the home is concerned but sorry to hear that Alan is suffering. Hope the doctor will come up trumph and get him referred quickly to the specialist. I hope he recovers well so you can both benefit from the plans you are going to put in place to benefit both of you. Best wishes

Alan might be dying

The GP said she needed to prepare me that the x-ray showed that it could very possibly be more than an infection and fluid. She did a thorough examination of Alan and she felt that he had an enlarged liver as well. He has been showing me this area but I always thought he was indicating something to do with the toilet.
Under the circumstances she felt he would be better not to be admitted to hospital today but wait for an urgent appointment with the Respiratory Clinic. I asked her what that would involve and she said an appointment would come through within the next 2 weeks and they would examine him, the x-rays, possibly want more x-rays and a bronchoscopy.

She said he was a very poorly man. We discussed pain relief and for the moment he is on paracetamol but I can ring at any time for anything!! Alan was laughing and joking with her and he didn't seem that poorly at that time.

Love to you all. I am sure you will all be as shocked as I am because I never expected this.

Dearest Helen,
I am sorry to read your latest post. I really hope your appointment comes through very very quickly, it is unbearable to have to wait for a definite diagnoses. I know the doctor said Alan is a very sick man, but they said that to my husband 12 months ago, when they found his fluid on the lung. He is not well by any means, but he is stable and mostly happy and contended. You may find the same will happen with Alan. My husband slowly deteriates and has done for a long time, but we still have eachother as you and Alan do. Make the most of each day live in the now and if Alan is mostly happy as he is today, you may be able to be happy with him. My thoughts are with you, you have had a bit shock today give yourself time to rethink your plans and take it a step at the time. Biggest hugs ever and warmest thoughts.Win x

Oh goodness Helen, how suddenly things are changing for you.

At least Alan seems well for the now...and you have the GP on board. Hope the hospital appointment comes through quickly.

You've had a lot to deal with recently...and a huge shock today.

Be gentle with yourself.

Thinking of you.

Love xx
