Wow that's difficult, we've been in our house 23 years, married 32, and he also goes on about the others. I always say it's just us two, but when he says have they all gone, I just say yes, it's the easiest answer.
Yep snap ,! He's always surprised the others have gone home without saying goodbye ! Talks to himself in the mirror too. Tells his own reflection when I'm mean and won't take him to see his parents! Both died over 20 years ago!
He calls the old man in the mirror his friend!

Congratulations @scotlass !

At least your OH can respond, whether as you would like or not! 😊
You just have to take it as it is.

We will have our 56th next month, but only one of us knows. My OH no longer has the ability to speak more than a few words in a row, and goes off in to sounds, etc. I think she does probably understand a little more than is apparent, and she still knows my name.

Hi, we been rather lazy over the last few days, watching some of the tennis from Queen Club on BBC2.
Well today, my OH looked at the screen and said "I like the way you've mown the lawn. Looks really good!"
I think our back garden grass is grass rather than a lawn! But, I'll take all the compliments I can get!

Odd isn't it? My oh reckons I like doing jobs too. I think it " eases his conscience " in an odd way,if I like all the jobs I do 🤣🤣 not that he thinks much at all these days.

🤣🤣 My oh confuses TV with real life a lot too. After seeing some rather expensive and lovey jewellery on the antiques roadshow he asked whIy I didn't wear it more often as he always liked it🤣 I would if it were mine 🤣

My OH also says that I love doing housework. Today he said he knows how much I love doing the garden ( I don't) which is why he doesn't want to help me.

I also feel that I do all the washing for the entire street. It seems never-ending.

My OH doesnt understand why he isnt doing things that he used to do anymore.
When the doctor asked why he didnt do them now you could almost see his brain scrabbling around trying to work out why. He eventually said he couldnt be bothered, but really he is unable to do them.

I think most PWDs dont realise/understand why they arnt doing things and are unable to realise that they simply cannot do them, so their brain confabulates a "reason" why they are not doing it.

And sometimes that "reason" is pretty amusing.....
