Hi Sylvia

I hope Dhiren tires himself out this afternoon then maybe you can have a decent nights sleep tonight.

He seems very up and down at the moment,it must be so hard on you.

Love Janet

Thank you Janet and Jan

He had over an hour sorting his shoes and going in and out of the garage looking for others. The only shoes I keep in the garage are winter boots and Wellington Boots and he wouldn`t have a clue where to find them.

Anyway he replaced them all in their boxes in the wardrobe and told me what beautiful shoes he has.

And all was well.

And I told him I was going to the relatives` support group tomorrow and asked if he would like to come too for a change.
He said he will come because, in his words, `I can`t keep disappointing you.`
So we will see.

But now he is restless again, bored with television, or unable to follow what`s going on, and wandering round the house.

Hi Sylvia

But now he is restless again, bored with television, or unable to follow what`s going on, and wandering round the house.

This is how Alan gets Sylvia. At times like these he enjoys that 100% attention that the sitters can give him but by this time in the evening I am tired and need to shut down and relax!!
Unfortunately, there are not many things he can do without assistance:(

Oh Helen and Sylvia,

How your posts remind me of Ken and myself a few years ago. I found that the evenings were the hardest to deal with because I was tired after a day of giving Ken constant attention. Just at the point in the day when I needed to relax and watch a few favourite TV programmes or listen to something on the radio, Ken was off on his obsessions with shoes, keys cars and it was unrelenting and so wearying.

He was so worried he`d lost his shoes. He confused them with his slippers.

I told him he had his shoes on.
No. He had his slippers on.
No. They were a similar colour but his slippers were bent down at the back and his shoes were not.
So off he went to check.
He came back.....`You`re right. I`ve got my shoes on.`

And this is how it is.

Tina I do think of you and Ken and his obsession with shoes. Now I know how it is.

And then............
`It`s too early to go to bed. I can`t go to bed at half past seven.`
and now he`s in the kitchen.

I will have to leave him to it.

I wish you lived nearer Helen. WE could let Alan and Dhiren be restless together.

Sylvia,

Ken still has his obsessions about shoes. I know this because he has 4 or 5 pairs of shoes and two pairs of slippers at the EMI home. I have to put so many there because they 'go missing'. I don't know where he puts them but eventually they turn up. Last week he had to wear one blue slipper and one grey slipper until their respective partners somehow got back into his room!

Hi Sylvia and Tina

Sylvia - I wished you lived nearer too. You never know they might enjoy sorting out shoes together because Alan has a thing about shoes and slippers too but I didn't relate it to dementia!!
I thought it was just Alan and I should have realised that he didn't used to be like this with footwear. I wondered why he'd started to get all his summer sandal shoes out!

I hope Dhiren settles Sylvia.

Tina - it is lovely to hear from you after your travels. I hope you have recovered and did your son get the job?

Love

Dhiren is beginning to settle after a very restless evening. He is getting out clean clothes for tomorrow, delighted he has found them.
He asked if there was enough room in the bed for him.
Now I know I`m a bit on the heavy side,;) but really..........;)
Good night all. :)

If you thought people and shoes were bad...

At the risk of being very silly - at least with my mother a shoe obession is one thing we don't have to worry about. Nope, shoe fetishes are the very specialist subject of the new puppy!!!

Shoe mysteries

Hello everyone, trev also has a thing about shoes, particulary mine. I dare not leave them on show or in the hall eles 1 will vanish , how many times i have been out in odd trainers to the gym you would not believe, it is a joke now and everyone looks to see if i have a matching pair on, I thought this was trevs way of preventing me leaving the house, but silly me he is not capable of such complex thinking, it is just another Alzhiemers mystery this obsession with footwear. My lovely daughter has come up with a solution, she buys me 2 pairs exactley alike so that i at least of a chance of finding 2 alike.I have been down last few days and she has just brought me a lovely card, which promptley had me in tears but happy tears. finally got hot water back on, so i smell a bit sweeter now. managed to move car first time in 9 days think that was why i felt trapped even though i love my home, it was the human contact i had missed.I also wish we all lived nearer just think of the shoe parties we could have.

Although I was young and possibly gorgeous, [beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all] , I was never trim. However I always wore at least 3 inch stilettos, even for work in a nursery school.....Health and Safety would make a meal of that now.

Sadly my poor feet are now paying the price.

Pam,
Dhiren hasn`t graduated to my shoes yet, so please don`t give him ideas.

It's all very well have 2 pairs of shoes the same, but what happens when you can only find 2 left shoes? Perhaps we need to go back to the middle ages when shoes were made exactly the same (no left or right) - that way if you had 2 shoes they'd be a pair.

As to high heels - when I was 18 and moved to London, I stayed with my aunts family for a while. This was a woman who spent her entire life in pointy toed shoes with the result that her feet were seriously deformed (almost as bad as the lotus foot from bound feet). It left a lasting impression on me (no pun intended) and I've always been very careful since then.

still on subject of shoes

jennifer , yes that has happened 2left or 2 right, but by the the laws of average i have a better chance. Wish i could wear heels like my sis who lives in 4inch heels even for supermarket run, but in my youth well perhaps not so young i took to wearing huge platform shoes standing all day as a dental nures ( thought i looked sexy)now ,have horrible deformed toes and a bunnion,,
So it is flats for me now, Sylvia post a pic of you in your heels, and any one eles who would like to join in a bit of nostalga, fortunatley for me ,i do not have a digital camera or knowledge how to post a pic so i will be excluded

I can't remember when I was last young, and I don't think I was ever gorgeous.

But I do still wear high heels, particularly when I'm wanting to create an impression!:D

Tomorrow? Perhaps not, maybe a bit of overkill!:D:D:D
