Thank you so much for all the messages of support. Sorry I disappeared last night, I just had to get my head together. (Not feeling the least bit philosophical!)
She had the district nurse come twice each day to dress them. Then the tissue specialist nurse came and recommended the same honey etc treatment. The legs have now healed up very well, although the skin is still tight and reddish.
Tina, thank you for that, it does sound to be a similar situation, and it gives me hope.
Unfortunately CN was not on duty yesterday pm, I'd have liked to talk it through with him. Hopefully today!
I don't blame the home, apparently we are almost all carriers of MRSA, and it doesn't do any harm. It's only when there is an open wound and a depressed immune system that problems arise, which is why people often are infected after an operation. What worries me is that John has been on almost constant antibiotics since August, so I don't know how effective they are now.
I'll report back when I know more.
