I hope nobody minds this wee Christmas poem! 😱🎄

A Scottish Christmas Fairy.

I am a little fairy
On tap o' the Christmas Tree
It's no' a job I fancy
Well how would you like tae be me
A tarted up wi' tinsel
It's enough to mak ye boak
An a couple o' jaggy branches
Rammed up the back o' your frock
An' these wee lights a'roon me
I canny get my sleep
An' there's the yearly visit
Fae Santa - Big fat creep!

On Christmas Day I'm stuck up here
While you're a' wirin' in
An' naebody says 'Hey you up there
Could you go a slug o' gin?
It's nae joke bein' a fairy
The job's beyond belief
You've got to go roon' the wean's beds
An' lift their rotten teeth
But o' a' the joabs a fairy gets
An' I've mentioned only some
The very worst is sitting up a tree
Wi' pine needles up yir bum

When a' the fairies meet again
By the light of' the silvery moon
Ye can tell the Christmas fairies
They're the wans that canna sit doon
The Christmas tree's a bonny sight
As the firelight softly flickers
But think o' me I'm stuck up here
Wi' needles in my knickers
So soon as Christmas time's right by
An' I stop bein' sae full o' cheer
I'll get awa back tae Fairyland
An' I'll see yous a' next year.

Excellent @Izzy, and thanks for the information on wally dugs. One of them in the article was very much like mine. I love the way that even a pair aren't totally identical.
Most of the Christmas shopping is done. if I can be bothered after I've been to the hairdressers this afternoon I might go and look for a few more bits and pieces, but we have everything we need, and if we haven't we'll just do something else.

Yesterday I was run ragged as, after usual morning duties and activities, I was at Aldi for 9am collecting 100 bags of Yorkshire puddings to be added to the 100 Hampers to be distributed to less fortunate folk in our community; a task that started at 11am with a team of volunteer helpers and drivers ensuring that each home had food, toiletries and sweets for the children. This all meant that I was out and about but still had to do our big shop, collect meds from the pharmacy and fuel the car all in the mayhem of others all doing similar.
Mid-afternoon and settling down when a big bouquet of flowers was delivered for her but no sender name but the florist confirmed it was from Pauline’s brother-in-law and so I dialed his number and got her to chat with him while on speaker phone and it worked great and she was so natural. a GOOD day 😊

managed to finish the main man nearing his time to fly around the world. ive had to really burn the midnight oil to get it finished and be paired with the elf i made earlier.
He’s adorable. Well done. I can sew and embroider but, unfortunately fail every time I try knitting!

Wow, yes a good day indeed. So pleased for Pauline, and you. Do take care though to look after yourself.

We do put ourselves through it. I always say it’s just a roast and try not to put pressure on myself. Hope all goes well. Enjoy!

Everyone has been and gone now.
Daughter broke down not far from home and had to be towed back, so they didnt manage to get here. Such a shame - I think everyone was sorry about that. Everyone else negotiated the traffic and got here quite early. Lots of fun, lots of food eaten, the grandkids got quite excited so we all went for a walk to the local playground so they could let off steam

OH was well into host mode and is now exhausted, but didnt have a single seizure all day. Early night for us both, I feel

I’m so glad it gave you a chuckle!

What a shame about your daughter. How disappointing. I’m glad it went well apart from that though. Fingers crossed for a peaceful night for you both.

Oh @canary, such a shame your daughter didn’t make it. It sounds like it was a success and such a good idea to let the young ones run off some energy in the park. All of your planning was worth it.

Hope for a quiet, uneventful evening.
