Hi I’m Sue, my mum was diagnosed with vascular dementia in April 2020 & by August she was admitted into a a care home where she still resides. Dad has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s & vascular dementia, he won’t agree to have the test done as he thinks if he’s diagnosed with dementia like mum, they will put him in a care home. He will have to go in one sooner or later as he lives with my brother who is disabled & can’t care for dad forever. Dad’s family don’t want to look after him & the sister he has nominated as contact, I feel, is only involved because she knows of the money that mum has in her bank account. I’m worried that if mum passed away before dad & he gets this money, she will take advantage of him & get money out of him, which is why I’m kind of hoping dad goes first. Horrible to say, I know, but I’ve never really got on with either of my parents, but if anything, I’d rather have my mum be ok & dad be in the care home, but it is what it is.
