Using LPA with HMRC

Does anyone know whether HMRC will accept office of public guardian access codes to view an lpa on-line rather than send a certificate copy of the LPA to them?
Also can a person with dementia still sign tax related docs with guidance from family member?
Can’t find any answers on HMRC website

I’m curious to know the answer to your first question @Rustybryn

For the last 2 years we have used the signing with support option. Mum could sign and understood in the moment what she was signing.

Things have moved on and I now need to register her POA prior to the next submission, I would be annoyed with them if they don’t accept the code as it is set up by government for that purpose.

Found a post on the HMRC community forum which appears to suggest that HMRC do not currently use the online code system meaning you have to send them the original certificate or a certified copy.

No idea about the second question.
