Hello. My step dad suffers from Lewy Body Disease which is apparently the second type of dementia after Alzheimer and has a lot of the Alzheimer symptoms but combined with the effects of Parkinson's disease. Often not diagnosed and less well known... he is at quite an advanced stage. He is 86 years old. It is harrowing to see him degrade. He is like my second dad. He was a famous lawyer ,witty and kind. It is so hard to accept the fact that he now is so fragile. He just got into a specialised care home last week because my mum could not look after him anymore as he kept on falling over and refused to get into a bath. The staff at the care home are requesting a type of pyjamas which he cannot open at the front and which would make changing his pads easier as he does not like to be handled...do you have any recommendations? Thank you very much

Clarify what they mean before you purchase.

Do thy mean elastic waist ( ie without flies) which wouldn't change much with regards keeping a pad on

or an all in one romper ''one-sie'' type which would keep a pad less accessible but would make changing more difficult.

(If you are in UK Primark do soft pull up fly-less PJ's- they call them leisure wear, but they are with PJs)

We usually just buy larger t-shirts, sweatshirts, and sweatpants/flannel pants, etc., for my Dad as it's easier for them to get him in and out of. The larger pants that tie at the waist are often easier as all staff can adjust them to stay up when needed and they just pull the tie at the waist to change his pads.

But the staff are asking the OP to get ones that her dad can't open at the front, so presumably they don't want ones with a tie? If the person is any way "challenging" about personal care, as my husband was, you couldn't afford the time to be fiddling with ties, or you could end up badly hurt.
