As some parts of the country are having a prolonged period of hot weather at the moment just a reminder about the risks of dehydration to those with dementia. It's really important to ensure that enough fluids are taken and the links below contain useful information, including how to identify if someone is dehydrated, which can often cause changes in behaviour, and also tips on how to encourage more fluids such as giving ice lollies. Usual fluid intake should be around 1.5 to 2 litres per day but more is needed in hot weather:
