Hello fellow travellers on a road nobody chooses.
My husband and I are 68 and have been together since we were 17. He began to show signs that something was wrong about 11 or 12 years ago. I felt like a voice crying in the wilderness - no one else thought any of it significant. For years he was sent to podiatrists and other specialists. Three years ago we got a diagnosis of cerebral small vessel disease - vascular dementia. He is now in a nursing home and I am embarking on a fight to get him continuing care.
I don't know anyone else who has a partner in the later stages of this disease, so it will be good to talk to you through this forum.
