Cliff, John's were caused by rubbing the backs of his heels up and down in bed.
They came up in the most enormous blisters the size of a small orange, which then became raw sores. The one on the right heel has healed copletely, but the other one became infected, and is taking a lot longer.
You're right to massage Dee's feet, I can only guess that they must have been itchy for John to rub his so badly.

Just checked back -- it was 23 Dec. that I first posted about John's heels, so it's already taken two months. It feels like longer!
