My mum is 90 and has dementia she has become very poorly in very short period of time. I do not live near her which is extremely worrying. She’s been adamant that she’s not going into a care home but for very first time today she accepted she needs to. However her behaviour has been very concerning and I’m worried something is going to happen to her if she’s not put into care very soon. I’m absolutely fraught with worry.

Have you contacted social services directly for an emergency assessment? It probably differs between authorities, but our one has told me I can contact them anytime in an emergency to have a reassessment and get additional services in place in case of sudden deterioration or illness, even if only temporarily.
