Good evening I am a Carer for a person with dementia and have been a carer for the last 3 yrs. I usually spend about 6 hrs a day with her in her home (she lives a couple of minutes away from my home)
Thank you knitandpurl I must admit had a bit of a wobble a few weeks ago but I am lucky that I have carers who I get on well with who come in morning and night. I just find alienating that unfortunately I don't socialise or have time to do the things I used to. I really feel for all the carers out there, I don't think anyone who has not taken the role can even imagine the toll it takes on a person physically and mentally. I am looking forward to exploring this siteWelcome. This is definitely the place to be for support, advice, virtual hugs, sympathy, empathy, hope and even laughter.
Hi Kevinl, thank you for your welcome, I look forward to reading tips and hints. I'm a real newbie only doiing caring for 3 yrs compared to you and yes, you are right I struggle to keep up with the way months fly past in a blink of an eye!Hello and welcome from me too.
An infinite source of knowledge on here I don't know what I'd have done without it.
I can't believe I've been a member (as a carer) for something over 10 years now, where does the time go. K
