When we were in India I had trousers and a top made and Bill had a shirt made. We were measured for them in the morning and they were delivered to us at iur hotel in the evening. I know it was a more tourist area we were in but you might be able to get that service where you are. It seemed quite common.

Have another wonderful day! x

Thanks izzy.

It takes me back to when I bought a ring in Delhi. I chose the stone they took my size and delivered it to the hotel in the evening.

It is very hot today even sitting in the shade. We are just relaxing with drinks and late breakfasts.

It's 12 noon. 'Mad dogs and Englishmen' come to mind.

Oh I bought a ring in Dehli too!! I wear it as my engagement ring! I sat looking at the rings telling the man over and over that I had no intentions of buying anything - then I saw it!

While Helen was writing a repeat of a long post she lost, we were approached by two young indian women who had been sitting at another table.

They were friends from Delhi, but one had been living in Japan and recently married but was here for a holiday.

They were fluent in English, very friendly and chatty, wanted to know where we were from and how we liked it here.

One was Bengali and when I told her Dhiren was Bengali she was delighted and gave me a big hug.

There were hugs all round before they left and we will probably see them this evening .

Good morning TPers.

The trousers I wear are from Dr. Grab on the Internet. I have purple which were a gift from Sylvia, I have grey and white. I would like a pair of black. They are all one size so Sylvia and I both have them. I love mine. They don't crease, they are very comfortable and I like the hang of them. My tops are specially selected for India. Most are from charity shops but some are store bought.

The western folk in Rishikesh are mostly young. Mostly but not entirely. There are a few geriatric hippies:D. They all look like they've been cloned:rolleyes:

Sylvia and I are happily sitting in dappled sun/shade outside the restaurant. The numerous birds are singing away. There is a background of Indian music. We are having a leisurely breakfast. I have had no tea or coffee since arriving in India. I drink either fresh mint tea or ginger, lemon and honey tea. No tea leaves involved. I will keep this habit when I go home. I do not miss meat or fish and shell fish. I may cut out meat when I return to the UK but am not definite. I will certainly cut it down by at least half.

Our days are well balanced. We are both sleeping extraordinarily well. I leave my curtains open as there are only mountains and monkeys overlooking my room. We wake naturally as we have no need for alarms. We spend most mornings relaxing in the glorious peace and tranquility of the place. Afternoons have tended to be more active as you all know well:D

As the morning unfolded before us two young indian women came to talk to us. It was a lovely connection and we will meet up with them tonight.

It all sounds so wonderful :) India is on our 'to do' list and if we get there I hope it's as enthralling for us as it is for both of you.

I too have been admiring your trousers. I like comfort too much these days so I'll have to treat myself :)

Enjoy the rest of the day ladies and I'll pop in again later xxxx

"I've just emailed some photos to Paul and they are all the right way up."

Apple add metadata which TP does not understand.

The metadata is about the orientation of the iPad when the image is taken and also whether it is laterally inverted to allow it to be used as a mirror for applying make up.

This metadata has to be removed before posting on TP, hence the problem with the previous poster trying rotation as not all rotation methods remove he metadata.
Gosh thank you Nitram but that is all beyond me to do, I will leave you to it. xx

We're in trouble with the tuk tuk drivers.

Like UK taxi ranks they take their fares in turn so when we wanted our usual driver , who was not the first in line, another driver was cross.

When I told him it was our choice he said we had no choice . We decided to walk and then they called us back and allowed our regular driver to take our fare.

I feel a bit mean because they all have a living to earn but this driver has been so good we both feel comfortable with him.

I wanted to buy a sari for my middle granddaughter Lucy. He took us to the most wonderful street absolutely full of sari and indian outfit shops.

We then went to look for something for Helen but she can tell you herself.

On the way back I commiserated with the driver and said I was sorry his co drivers were cross with him. I explained now we knew him we felt more comfortable and I did understand the queue system. He shrugged. He agreed the other drivers were cross but still agreed to pick us up tomorrow.

He told me he has three children. A son working in IT in Delhi, a daughter at university and a son aged 12

After our leisurely morning we decided to go down to our tuk tuk driver and ask him to take us to a place we will find saris. All the other tuk tuk drivers objected to him taking us but we insisted we only wanted him. They were not at all happy. Our tuk tuk driver knows good English and he is honest. He told us he would bring us some home-made Indian sweets tomorrow. He took us to a market area that specialised in saris, Punjabi suits etc.

Sylvia found what she wanted straight away. I found it more difficult. It was boiling hot. Fortunately these shops have seats for customers. We were served from our seats. Marvellous idea.

Eventually, after being shown the millionth lot of material, I had gone brain dead and Sylvia was too. I had a strong feeling I would find what I wanted and i did:). I chose 3 different colours for my Punjabi suits. Creamy white for 2 pairs of trousers, dusky pink and a lovely blue for two tops. The tailor came to measure me and get an idea of design. I will get them all made up tomorrow at 5pm. The material is lovely. £20 for the lot!!!!

We are back now resting before dinner.

Love

Thank you both for your updates. Your mornings sound perfect, relaxed after good sleep, taking them at your own pace.

A pity the other tuk tuk drivers were displeased, but good on you sticking to your guns and your driver sounds a genuine man.

The street full of sari and Indian outfit shops sounded exciting and I hope your granddaughter enjoys the sari you chose for her, Sylvia.

Helen, lovely choice of colours, such a reasonable price for the materials. And all made up by tomorrow! Look forward to seeing photos!

I’ve jotted down the places you each mention where you bought trousers, thanks.

Also as ever, for the wonderful photos.

Enjoy your dinner and your evening. Perhaps another friendly chat with the two ladies staying at the hotel.

Love

Love every minute of this thread.

Kind of understand the necessary jealousy of the other tuk tuk drivers but just as you struck lucky, so did he.

Can't wait to see Helen's new clothes.

Take care girls. x
