My mum went to the optician with her carer on Thursday to get a eye test. When I got home from work I found a receipt for £474 for new glasses. I don't know what kind of special lenses have been sold to her, but 250 of it was for the frames. In the past we've been able to reuse frames and have new lenses fitted to them, if the frame condition is good enough. The carer said they didnt discuss reusing the frames. At £250 she can ill afford them. I tried to cancel the order but they say it's too late.
I'm upset and angry she's been sold something far more expensive than she needs and they won't stop the order to discuss it.
Any advice on our rights in this situation?

As glasses are deemed to be bespoke they don't have the same protection under the consumer rights act as a pair of off the shelf glasses. It seems to depend on the individual optician as to their refund policy. Specsavers say once you have paid they won't refund, Asda however say they will happily refund.
