Hi all, just to let everyone know that may have seen my earlier posts.
My dad that has challenged his placement at a care home was finally returned home to my mum last Monday. He has advanced vascular dementia and we nearly lost him in March due to pneumonia but now he is funded under CHC we were granted his wish to return home. I knew I had to trust my believe that this is what dad wanted and he wasn’t “locked in” it was what he truely wanted and him saying “I want to go home” was not a symptom of his dementia.
If anyone is in a similar situation and their relative is able to return safely home then please take my experience as a positive one.
The first thing my dad said was that he was happy now he is home and so far, with the support of some amazing new carers and me and my sister he is coping very well. We have transferred him back to his original GP and not the one from the care home and they are amazed at his recovery and how well he is doing. We just need to enjoy the time we have with dad and mum now they have been reunited in their home.
