I wonder if the hospital has a young adult team? It’s a tough age as he’s too old for the kids stuff but far too young compared to everyone else…..my sister works as a kids play specialist in a London hospital helping to settle the children.

im not sure. he is on a adult ward and is by a long way the youngest patient there. because he is 18, hes classed as an adult but he has ADHD. i will ask his parents about it tomorrow. there was a debate years ago as to where to place teenagers.

I meant to tell you Jennifer I asked my sister about your grandson. She said check whether the hospital can facilitate some age appropriate support. Her hospital childrens now supports up to 21’s. I think the team Will have age appropriate entertainment and staff for him to spend time with and help him understand his condition. I’m guessing PALS may be a good place to enquire.

a good news in that my grandson has been discharged from the hospital with an outpatient appt. they dont know why he is walking funny. the tests have come back clear. they did say he has a bulging disc but it wasnt bad enough to cause the problems in his legs. he says they still feel like jelly and dont belong to him. at least hes home.
