Now that is very interesting Hazel. It`s as if the language goes before the memory.

So was language one of the early symptoms, or was it loss of short term memory?

I recently read a book on Dementia which said that 'abilities' go in reverse order to the way they were learned. I found that interesting as apparently my husband was a very late talker and his parents took him to a specialist as he didn't talk until he was four - therefore I wondered whether this was the reason why the talking was the first thing to be affected.

Hello Gigi

I know just what you mean about the 'thing' word - that was the first pointer I had to the fact that something was wrong. I also know exactly what you mean about being so in tune you can nearly always work out what they are trying to say. I call myself David's 'interpreter' - because at the moment that's mostly what I do. We struggle along OK mostly, but sometimes he gets rather annoyed if I cannot immediately understand him - it must be so frustrating!!!!

Yes, you are quite right - you certainly find out who your friends are!!! and it is worrying as I am finding myself more and more isolated as the disease progresses.

Nice to know there are other people out there who can sympathise....

Love Sue
