Hi all. My Mother In Law is moving from a care home in Leicestershire to one in Shropshire, where we live. She was originally in Leicestershire as it was near to my sister in law, but she has passed away so we've taken the decision to move her closer to us.

I'm struggling to work out how to get her here! She's wheelchair bound and he head droops so she wouldn't manage in a car seat. She has dementia and is very quiet.

I have contacted a couple of private ambulance companies but the cheapest quote I have so far is around £700. The local NHS provider won't do it, and St Johns say they can't either.

Any ideas?

I'm afraid that doesn't sound too extortionate. Will the company provide an escort as well as the driver? Remember they will have to drive there and back again.

Hello @t0ria I know that it is a lot of money but as others have said that price is about normal for the sort of journey that you are talking about.

thanks everyone for your replies. Good to know the price is about right, we'll just have to manage it!
