Firstly, I hope the admin don't mind my posting this, but after fighting for 2 years, and losing, continuing healthcare funding for my Mum, I unearthed a whole load of information, much of which I found on this site. I know that many of you find yourself in the same situation as me, and will therefore, hopefully, support the cause.

I feel very strongly that we have to fight this unlawful refusal by the NHS to cover the cost of care home fees for our loved ones and am trying desperately to highlight the issue in every way I can.

I have created an e-petition, which needs 100,000 signatures and then it has to be debated in parliament. I know this doesn't guarantee anything changing, but it's a start. The link is at the bottom of this message. Please click, and sign!

I hope you will all support this, and please fee free to share in via any form of social media you can think of!

Hi there Flooz, have just signed your e-petition. i was one of the lucky few, we applied for CHC for my MIL and were granted it at the first go. sadly she passed away last month. i like you feel that the NHS and Gov., are not holding up their end of the deal ans will wriggle out of what is law at every turn. they take so long dealing with the appeals in the hope that the applicant just gives up.

i hope that others will sign the petition and that you get the number of signatures required.

keep fighting for what you know is right. good luck.

Thank you Jan. I have spoken to many people that are complacent and have the "there's nothing I/we can do attitude", but I'm not one of them.

I had a meeting with my MP last week who more or less admitted that the rules for obtaining funding are deliberately difficult so the majority of people won't get it. In his words "there is no money". Well I don't care how broke the Government is, it's not an excuse to act unlawfully. I'm broke, but it doesn't give me the right to go out and rob a bank. :-(

Is there anyway of pining this post, so it remains visible for people to provide their support in getting the Government to recognise the issues and problems with Continuing Care Funding?

I fought long and hard to get the funding for my husband finally granted on Sept 8th and then at review on Dec 19th revoked!

Am now going through the process of appeal and to be honest am so weary of it all feel I haven't any fight left in me! However have now been referred to the Alzheimer's advocate for help and awaiting a new date for MDT meeting.

I wouldn't wish this procedure on anyone it is a nightmare!!!

Have signed petition for me and my husband.

hi there,

this is what they want, to take the fight out of you in the hope that you give up. my MIL sadly passed in December received CHC and would have been due her 3month assessment and i have a feeling she to would have had hers revoked.

do not let them wear you down, pull your self up by the britches and let them know they have a fight on their hands.

Perhaps you could request it to be a sticky.

My initial response to that would immediately be a letter to them congratulating them on their discovery of a cure for Alheimer's!

The whole situation is disgusting. I was close to give up the fight, but another read of info and I discovered yet more reasons to fight. I'm about to send a letter to Lord Woolf too - what have I got to lose, apart from the price of a stamp.

We all know that money is tight BUT, until the goverment (of whatever hue, there is no difference between them as far as I am concerned) stop giving money away to foreign countries, some of whom spend their money on space programmes rather than improving the lives of their people and some who spend the money on weapons and private jets, I could go on, I will do my best to get funding for my Dad.

If all that money was spend on caring for the disabled, of whatever age, elderly, either in specialist homes or helping families to care at home, life could be made so much easier for so many people.

I get so sick of people saying that there is nothing wrong with paying for your own care. If you turn up at hospital with a cancer caused through smoking you would not expect to pay each time you received chemotherapy - so why should you have to pay for care when you have a disease which is killing your brain, over which you had no control.

Sorry, rant over, but it really annoys me (and no, it is not because I want to inherit).

Useless daughter, (you know it's quite painful to have to type that,. I bet you're not or you wouldn't be on here!). I agree completely with all you say.

Thank you for setting this up. I am not in a position, yet, where I have to fight for CHC for my Dad, but by God I will if that time ever comes, I don't care how knackered I am at the time. Having a bit of a ding dong now with SS and a rotter of a mobility shop that has sold us a duff motor for my Dads wheelchair!!

Keep fighting.

Found (I think) list of administrators and moderators, only a couple had the PM option available to me. So I've made a request (I think) and now just have to see what happens.

Thank you everyone for supporting this petition.
