Sundowning behaviours lost his care home place

My husband was in a dementia care home, we were assured they could cope with challenging behaviours, however after a month they said they couldn’t cope with his Sundowning behaviours. He was sectioned and now is almost unrecognisable from the man he was. He has no stimulation, he sits all day with nothing productive happening other than been given medications (which aren’t changing his Sundowning). There were other aggressive residents in the home, the difference being my husband was mobile and tried to keep “helping”other residents. and not responding, during these periods, to advice,

Welcome @Harr1

This is so sad and upsetting. Your husband cannot help himself and the only way of managing his challenging behaviour seems to be medication

If medication calmed him and made him more at peace, it would be easier to accept.

My husband`s sundowning was unmanageable but as his dementia progressed, the sundowning eased. I can only hope for the same for your husband
