Stimulation

My Mum is in hospital where she has been for a couple of weeks now. She is in a single room with its own bathroom, which should be a good thing. Trouble is Mum is very passive, doesn't demand attention and consequently doesn't get much. There is no tv, we have taken a radio in for her but she doesn't think to put it on. We take magazines and she has a book of family photos to look through. Her cognitive abilities are rapidly worsening as her stay extends.
Any ideas as to how we can stimulate her to stop her deteriorating any further?
Thanks

Music. Noughts and crosses-if she can't write you could make a large format one using sandpaper for tactile noughts and crosses. If 2D too simple- 3D one available in the works shop. connect4. Talking book/magazine. If looking at books, her sight must be ok-would portable tv be possible with animal DVD-David attenborough or ipad only format small. Even if she can't operate it then maybe you could use an hour of visiting to watch with her and discuss it . Even if you only watch for 15mins at first. Picture book with pictures of her birthplace and when she was young. Hope she soon recovers/improves.
