I hadn't realised it had been so long since I had updated my thread.
I haven't been on DTP as much, busy life etc.
This might be a long post, or more likely several posts.
I'll start off with mum, and finish with MIL and put the rest of life in the middle.
I've been to mum's every few weeks with her food, but not stayed too long. I haven't worn a mask as I thought that might confuse her and don't want to say too long without one.. One day when I was there a carer was there, sorting out some food, and wearing a mask, and my mum commented to me that this place was very odd at the moment which I think was a reaction to the mask. With mum's deafness, lack of general comprehension and goldfish memory she hasn't got a clue why everything isn't normal.
She is looking very well in herself, and eating well.
The restaurant is now open for a few people, but most are still having their food taken up by carers. I'm guessing mum's mobility will have suffered and hope when the restaurant reopens she can manage to walk there.
Had a couple of medication issues, where her blister pack hasn't been delivered. For whatever reason her meds are being delivered weekly rather than monthly so twice I've been phoned on a Friday evening to say meds haven't turned up, and pharmacy doesn't run it's delivery service on a Saturday so could I go and collect them and take them to her complex. The first time I went to collect, having been told would be ready no later than 11.30, got there and handed large bag for someone with the same first name as mum, and a few doors down the corridor so flat started with same number. Pointed out error, and mum's weren't done, so pharmacist came out from back to get ready. I took both mum's and the other lady's to the complex.
Second time was Friday just gone and we were in Scotland (visiting MIL) so nothing I could do. One of the carers had to go and collect, again not ready so she waited an hour for it to be sorted. Which means somehow her care calls had to be covered for that hour.
I phoned on Sat to check all sorted and asked if I should report it, and or change pharmacy, they commented that they thought weekly was due to meds availability issues, and that they didn't' think other pharmacys are taking on new blister packs at the moment due to the pressures of covid.
I will ask at my pharmacy if they could do it, but as mum's is less than a minute drive from her complex whereas mine is the other side of town, near me wouldn't be easy for carers to sort if it goes wrong and I'm not there.
Why do these little niggles keep happening. Just seems so hit and miss.
I'll update more tomorrow.
