Hi everyone I'm not actually a new member but I've been off for a long time due to no access to computer. I am a carer for my husband who was diagnosed with vascular dementia back in 2006 at the age of 57. I am 9 yrs younger and feel that we were both far too young to be dealing with this terrible illness. Things have moved on a bit, my husband thankfully is relatively well although his memory is not what it was and his speech and mobility have been affected. Life has changed considerably, I gave up work a few years back, our social life is almost non existent and as our main pastime was walking in the mountains that has also gone. I feel old before my time although I do my best to keep active, I look after my grandchildren and try to get to the gym whenever I can. I try to make the best of what we have but it is very hard sometimes to keep my spirits up. I look forward to talking to you, sharing experiences and supporting each other.
