Hi Jenniferjean,

I can understand why you are confused - I was as well. People talk about respite as if it is a given but in my experience it is not. My OH is self funding and we have always paid for respite. On the upside with self funding you can chose when and where.

Mum had a financial assessment before respite funding was agreed, she had to make a small contribution towards it.

Thank you, that's what I thought it would be. I was just a bit confused by what I had read.
We do have some savings, but it won't last for ever. I guess I'm going to have to be sure that when I need some respite I really do need it.
