I started this yesterday on here regarding my mom accusing my young niece of stealing a Barbie doll from her house. My niece would like to confront gma and show her where the dolls are, however, I'm afraid that my mom will come unglued and not accept that the doll is in fact the one she said was missing. Should we take that chance to see if this helps the relationship that my mom is creating with her granddaughter?

It won't work, she believes a doll has been stolen so a doll has been stolen. The usual advise is to acknowledge while not agreeing "I'm sorry you think she's stolen it, that must make you feel very sad" and distract.
