OPG Deputy becomes unable to do their Duty.

My current understanding is that the Deputyship has to be reapplied for by a new person. I have a couple of queries that someone may know about:

1. Has anyone experience of the Deputy (say ones wife) becoming unable to perform those duties and having to take over? What issues came up if any?

2. Say I have POA over my wife and she becomes unable to perform her duties to her mother and I invoke the POA, does that mean I can take on the Deputyship automatically? I suspect this would not be the case but thought I would ask.

Thanks.

You are correct that someone else would need to apply to be the deputy. And you are also correct in your suspicions that being the attorney for the person who is the deputy isn't going allow you to automatically take over the deputy role.
