My husband and finances

Hi, we are in the early stages of dementia with my husband, and currently waiting on an assessment with the memory team. I’ve found it reassuring in some ways to read others stories, particularly with financial matters, and buying too much. We currently have our house on the market, and because of serious mismanagement of our finances by my husband, I am now in control of everything in our life. We have help, with finances etc, and a very understanding GP, but I’m wondering if anyone has commenced medication prior to confirming diagnosis. TIA

Hello @Rozzy I don’t think it’s possible to get medication for dementia without a diagnosis. Some dementias don’t have a specific treatment and it’s more about managing the symptoms. I’m glad you have an understanding GP it makes a big difference.

I think some meds may only be prescribed by the consultant at the memory clinic because my GP always refers us back there for a meds review.
