Hello All, I hope everyone is doing ok. I'm new here and looking for some advise please. My mum has just been diagnosed with Fronto Temporal Dementia, we are on the waiting list for a Safeguarding Assessment and in the mean time the Dementia Nurse has visited and has refered mum for a daily carer check in, tbc. I am with mum every weekend and she is getting increasingly frustrated at not remembering words and struggles formulating sentences. Has anyone had experience of this and is there anything we can do for example some type of speech therapy? I've looked at Dementia apps and we tried a few but mum struggles with them and I just wondered if there was another way to help her? Thanks all and have a good Friday = )

Hello @Charl0tt8 and welcome to Talking Point

Has your mum seen a speech therapist? If not, I would ask her GP to refer her to one, they deal with all forms of communication, not just speech

Welcome from me too @Charl0tt8.

I’m sorry to hear about your mum’s diagnosis. I think asking for a referral to SALT (speech and language therapist) is a good idea
