My mother is currently in hospital after having a fall. She is 89 and suffers from dementia. I had a really bad time on Thursday night. I went to visit her and she refused to speak to me. She said to the nurses, keep her away from me. She went to sit in another room to get away from me. When she did eventually speak to me, she just told me to go away! She has also started wandering and trying to escape out of the hospital. I got really upset and had to just go home.

That hurts. There is no easy way to resolve it. Your mother is who she was and this behaviour is not her but dementia. Hate the illness and love the memory of your mother. Be kind to yourself too.

Best wishes.

Hello
Am sorry to hear about your mum.
It must have really hurt you, mum not wanting to be near you.

Very often Just the fact of being in Hospital can make Dementia symptoms worse, add to that illness or injury ....
I hope your mum recovers quickly and you see a big improvement soon.

Please let us know how you and Mum are.
