Hi,
If the attorney is going to register an lpa and the lpa is for jointly and severally, the forms state that only one attorney needs to register it, however so both attorneys are involved can both attorneys register the lpa and therefore both sign to say they have? Or is it literally only one attorney needs to register it and sign?

It states:-

2.2 Part B2 – The applicant

Fill in section 2

Mark one box only to state whether you are the donor or attorney(s).

If there is more than one attorney, you can usually apply to register the LPA on your own. But all attorneys must apply together if either:

  • the donor has stated on the LPA form that all attorneys must apply to register
  • you are appointed ‘jointly’ or ‘together’
Check how the attorneys are appointed by looking at section 4 of the LPA form.

You must give your name(s) and date of birth exactly as they appear on the LPA form – even if there’s an error.

Is there a reason you want both attorneys to do this. As soon as the LPA is registered, both attorneys will be involved and able to act together or separately.
