How do we even begin to deal with this? Dad has been in respite for two weeks after things reached crisis point. In that time we have gone from Parkinsonism to dementia probably with Lewy bodies.

How can we keep him safe when/if he comes home? Stairs are a complete no go, so he will have to have a bed downstairs. How do we manage the stairs? Stair gate? We're going to look at alarms for the door, pressure mat for when he gets out of bed. Can anyone help with practical suggestions? My mum hasn't slept properly for months and months and my sister and I really want to make things as easy as possible for her. If you can share anything I'd be very grateful :)

Ask Social Services to send an Occupational Therapist to make a home visit and assess the situation - they can recommend and provide things around the house that will help to keep your Dad safe.
