An update - finally moved to care home....

After 11 months in hospital due to challenging behaviour, my father has finally been moved to a dementia nursing care home. He isn't quite settled yet, and again we are wondering whether he will settle at all.

So far, the caring role hasn't changed for us and we as a family are still visiting every day in order to check that he is being looked after and to reassure him. You think that you would feel some weight lifted after him going to a home, but this isn't the case so far. Perhaps this will change over time.

Today we were a bit disappointed during our visit to find that he was in bed during the day with the cot sides up so that he couldn't get out. He is mobile and is meant to be with a 1-2-1 carer at all times, so we were not sure why this happened. We will ask a question about this, but it is a balance with feeling that you don't want to rock the boat with staff, especially as he is a new resident.
