Hi, I was diagnosed yesterday with vascular dementia and I still haven't quite got my head around it. I am 47 (48 in 2 weeks) and am a single parent to my 16 year old son who has complex special needs. My specialist seems to think I have many years ahead of me before things progress, but obviously, I worried sick about my son. How do you get your head around it and keep positive?

Hello @Clare_76 and firstly welcome to this friendly and supportive forum. There is a wealth of shared experience of dementia to be found here so I am glad you have found us.

I am so sorry to read of your very recent diagnosis. Your feelings and and emotions must be all over the place right now. You are so young too. But your specialist saying you have many years ahead before things progress must be very encouraging at least.
