It's worth a try...

I think these things depend on the individual. Certainly for my mum it has been a godsend. She loves attending the day centre and the staff are brilliant. My mum used to be a nurse and they let her think she is helping out. So would try the route that Grannie G suggested. We talk about her going to work.

I would say try it - it took a few weeks for mum to settle and I too was concerned that she was so much younger and expressed this concern to her her social worker. However, the fact that she is younger makes it easier for her to think that she is at work. She has now developed excellent relationships with the staff and the people "she looks after" and although she can't talk to us in detail she mentions it and can remember that she has been there. Although it's still heartbreaking to drop her off with her packed lunch I think all in all it is a really positive experience for her and gives my dad a few hours break.

I really hope thigs work out for your wife and keep me posted on progress.

Caroline :)
