Council Tax

I think I may have made a mistake about my residency status. I care for my mum full time but I still have my residency (for council tax purposes at another address). I wanted to remain connected to the area I grew up and hope to return there once my caring role is over. Hence why I have been reluctant to switch my residency address to my mum's house. I stay with her for two weeks and return to my address for a weekend. Is that enough time?

I believe that there will be implications on the council tax mum is paying having me resident with her. And there may also be some back tax to pay (a shock for her & me) if I have made a mistake. So I am understandably worried.

Reading on this forum there is talk that carer's are exempt.....so it wouldn't matter where I was resident, but it is a confusing issue.

Any advice warmly accepted.
