It's not just with AD, sadly.

When my Nan ( Mum's Mum) was in her hospital bed, in the last few weeks of her life, suffering with cancer, she asked me if she was dying, when I asked why she asked that, she said she must be as relatives and friends had crawled out of the woodwork to see her.

Clever, wonderful woman, my Nan.

Miss her still, after 10 years.

My mother had friends from schooldays, four sisters. They were the most hospitable people you would want to meet, the kettle was on before you knocked on the door, and they would always offer to share whatever was on their table.
They never visited anyone, well or ill. But they never missed a funeral.
