Hi my sister and I look after our mum who has dementia and altzheimers, mum is physically amazing and over the last year her dementia has deteriorated , we and the carers support her to live independently and mum is well aware of her situation but her memory is getting terrible , very hard to see her deteriorate but she’s still amazing for nearly 90. We have power of attorney, I do all her finances and shopping, taking her to appointments and social events and we try everything we can to keep her independently in her home as this is what her wishes are. It takes it’s toll for sure and it’s getting harder but we just want to make the last years of her life as happy as they can possibly be.
