As long as people install and configure a decent AV and two way firewall and don't go 'click happy' or respond to phone calls from 'microsoft' there will be little risk.

The real problem is that 'security' and 'convenience' are opposite ends of a wide spectrum and most people gravitate to 'convenience' as it's inconvenient to configure their system (and installed security applications?).

It doesn't take much to do a goo@@le search on the "latest scam" to get an inkling of what is out there, ready to bite us. If in doubt - it's best to do nothing....unless you've heard it here on TP!:D

My computer uses XP and I regretfully will have to purchase a new system soon. However, I have been using Windows 7 at work, and it's bearable. My husband is running Windows 8 and I find it a bit of a pain so far.

XP is such a stable platform, I really wish they would keep it going longer.
