Why can't we pay first party top ups? (Wales)

Hello @Hours Away . Unfortunately the top up is £300 per week - not month. The interest on £50k will not cover this and the sum loaned would need to be repaid to Mum's estate on death. The brother the money was loaned to would not have enough to repay the full sum - if that makes sense. But thank you so much for your very kind input.
If the new laws come into effect in England then there may be many more people caught in this trap!
