OK, so lets assume to OPG listen to your concerns, what happens then?

Someone HAS to be responsible for paying her fees- who? and how? you dad will have no authority to access her bank accounts- so what then?

Someone has to apply to the OPG for a cert saying they are a responsible person and will do this for nan. Not only are they going to do this for Nan, they are going to have to submit annual penny by penny accounts annually. Oh, and they also have to pay for the cert that says they are fit and capable. And it can take months to come though.

If no one decides they are fit and capable and WANT to, then someone has to. This cert can be applied for by a solicitor to act for nan. thats great- every time the solicitor recieves a bill from the care home, there will also be a fee for his time and trouble. Likewise any time Nan needs clothes and toiletries, ask the solicitor for money - fine- out will come the cost of the clothes and toiletries- plus the fee again.

When nans immediate funds run low, solicitor will advise estate agent to sell the house. No you wont be involved, not likely to be allowed to remove anything from it, sentimental or otherwise.

And so it goes on.
No gran my not like it- but it has to happen.

Someone has said something about you having a holiday- Imagine they said nan told them she had given you the money to buy a porche and a speedboat- you'd laugh- you'd know she was making it up, dreaming/whatever.

Let the trivia go, it really isnt worth it.
