Teeth - we need a domicilary dentist

My 94 year old mother is in a care home She has quite advanced dementia and is bedbound and has been bedbound for more than a year. The care home say she is too weak to sit up properly. She doesn't speak a great deal and she needs help with everything. It would appear that she has toothache. She moans about her mouth. The care home appear to be unable to find a domicilary dentist to come and look at Mum's teeth. I don't know how she would cope with somebody trying to work inside her mouth! Has anybody else gone through this one? Any ideas of what to do. Toothache is horrible. She is eating quite well but they give her everything pureed.

Should be available but maybe the care home doesn't feel its worth the possible distress?

I’m wondering if she is too weak to be sedated for the tooth removal. Talk to the director of the care home and find out what your options are. It’s possible she is too frail for anything, other than pain relievers, to be done.
