Rocking whilst sitting

My wife has had dementia for several years and has started rocking backwards and forwards quite vigorously at times when sitting. She says her back does not hurt and I do not think that it is boredom since it happens when out for coffee. Any ideas as to the reason and how I can help would be appreciated.

Repetitive movements can be part of dementia.
If there is no pain and no physical discomfort then I suspect that it is being used as a self soothing mechanism.

My wife has started sitting hunched forward recently. Whereas she would always watch the TV, for example, she often just sits there now, hunched forward, looking down at the ground.

Same when sitting on the loo, where she will end up with her head almost on her knees, if I don't keep going in there to tell her to sit up. As it can often take ages for her brain to engage the "go switch", I have even found her snoring, if I get distracted doing something else whilst waiting!
