Pre financial assessment advice

Hello. I’ve been asked to complete my mums financial assessment for the local authority as she is now in Receipt of homecare. Should I ask for continuing care assessment first? Any advice please before I submit financial assessment ? Don’t want to do the wrong thing and anxious about getting into knots with the system ?

Welcome to the forum @Acceber you'll find lots of helpful advice and support here. The social care system and funding can be a bit of a minefield but you need to submit the financial assessment first so that the local authority can calculate whether your Mum is required to contribute to her care and if so, how much. Continuing healthcare (CHC) can be very difficult to get as the person being assessed needs to have quite a high level of health/care needs and dementia on its own is usually considered a social care, rather than health, issue.
