We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to change the
widows pension and carers allowance overlapping benefit

Becoming a widow is not a choice it is a situation we find
ourselves in. Being a full time carer for someone we love is a
choice and saves the Government a lot of money. The overlapping
benefit rule for carers allowance and widows benefit should be
revised.We should not be punished for being both.

Thank you, as you know the overlapping benefits rule applies to our carers allowance and lot's of other benefits to, i find it ridiculous that one can't retire and care for someone and be paid for both or as in my case be a widow and care for both of my parents. I can choose which benefit i want my widows pension or my carers allowance, they are both a low, but one is £1 more than the other, i cant have the both, i just don't understand the reasoning behind this rule and who made it in the first place.
