Hello.
I’m in early stages of gathering information in care home funding etc and have been reading a bit on the NHS Continuing Health Care, whereby the NHS pay for all health care needs including accomodation.

Apparently this should be done first, before any assessment into personal finances/house ownership and ability to pay.

I’m not sure if it only applies to England and Wales. Dad lives in Scotland but could end up in England as I live in Kent.

Has anyone applied for this and been successful?

Not sure that it should be done first, many people do not qualify for CHC, its hard to get it awarded.
It should be considered especially if your PWD has comorbidities

Most people cannot access dementia care on NHS. My aunt had advanced dementia but only got help because of her bowel cancer. She died the day she moved to care home.
