Hi all my mum has just been diagnosed with early stage Alzheimer's . Can anyone tell me the difference between this and dementia ? Many thanks

Dementia is the umbrella term. Alzheimer's is one kind of dementia. Let me find the fact sheet for you. And welcome to TP!

Thank you Beate. I've so much to learn! Mum has started a drug trial so at least that is something positive

I know they are excellent and good to know they're there to dip into them when you need them.

Thank you for all your kind replies. I suppose I feel like I am grieving for her if you know what I mean. I feel desperately sorry for my dad who has to live with it day in and day out.
