Hi, my grandad has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s nearly 5 years ago and has been between care and nursing homes since October last year. I am the only relative that visits him and because of this I feel I need to be with him everyday but I’m finding the decline in him very hard to deal with.
I have never reached out to a forum before but feel so alone.

Welcome from me too @Betty77

I`m sorry you are the only relative who visits your granddad. If he is well settled in his care home, it would be OK for you to visit less frequently.

I visited my husband every alternate day and he was fine.

Have a word with the care home staff and ask how your grandad is when he has no visitors.

Another idea is to try to see how your granddad is before he sees you when you visit. If he seems peaceful and contented you shouldn't need to worry so much.
